Yes – Diablo Immortal Is Coming To PC
Today, April 25th Blizzard announced that indeed Diablo Immortal will be available on PC in addition to the iOS & Android mobile versions. As many of you know, the long anticipated Diablo Immortal game was originally scheduled for mobile only – That is no longer the case! Cross play, keyboard/mouse support and a lot more will be available on release.
WHEN IS PC VERSION COMING ?
Blizzard just made the announcement that in addition to the Mobile platform launch on June 2nd, players will be able to enjoy the full Diablo Immortal experience on PC as well. Although a beta release, PC players will get the full game as Mobile users and even have their progress roll over once game goes full release on PC. Keyboard & Mouse support is coming to this much anticipated spinoff, sequel or however you wanna call it. Although the June release will basically be an open beta (cough cough, Diablo 3 release), the more people playing the faster Blizzard will get the feedback they need. Bug reports, login issues & all the “goodies” that come with each Blizzard’s game release should be ironed out in the first few weeks of the release. So if you are one of those people looking for a mandatory smooth experience on day one, server issues, login queues and similar will be your first enemy you encounter before even entering Tristram.
NOT AN APRIL’S FOOLS JOKE ANYMORE !
Who remembers red shirt guy from the 2018 BlizzCon ? When Wyatt Cheng made the disappointing announcement about Diablo Immortal being mobile only one guy took the stand and pretty much summed up in a sentence what everyone else was feeling. The disappointment, the unbelief & lack of respect for their player base left the entire crowd stunned thinking this must be some sort of a joke, nay, an “Out of season April’s fools joke”.
However today April 25th, although slightly out of season, we are glad to witness Blizzard listening to their playerbase and deciding on this bold move to port the game to PC, allowing D1-D2 veterans to get the full Immortal experience they deserved. Although there hasn’t been an official statement from Blizzard weather “Red Shirt Guy” had any sway on the decision making for release date platforms, at least we can do is reminiscent of this epic BlizzCon moment that seems to have started it all.
THE REAL REASON FOR THE PC PORT
It really all comes down to the Blizzard’s playerbase. As one of the oldest game developers, most of the people that are playing Blizzard’s games today started their sojourn about 15-20 years ago back when phones were tied to a wire and weren’t much of an use other than dialing numbers. Even if Immortal was not ported to PC, people would simply use emulators and various other tools to bypass the iOS/Android limitations and find one way or another to mash keyboards and slam mouse on the wall after the 10th failed boss attempt. That being said, we are glad Blizzard saved us the trouble of going through emulators, chair generals can once again focus only on stocking energy drinks, snacks & plan their “call in sick” speech for the opening weekend.
PC VS MOBILE DIFFERENCE ?
As much as the developers will try to keep both experiences similar and true to one another, some differences are to be expected. While you will have the standard left/right hand lower corner of the screen navigation and skill selection options, on pc movement will be handled through the WSAD area of your keyboard. HUD will also be upscaled and slightly resize on different areas of the screen to additionally accommodate for the difference in resolution. As more and more players are opting for wide screen gaming, the interface changes are mandatory to take place on PC, you simply can’t get around with identical systems for both platforms.
BOTH CORSSPLAY & CROSS SAVE SUPPORT
That’s right, not only you will be able to play using a controller in addition to the standard mouse & keyboard support on PC, you will be able to transfer progress from PC to Mobile, and even play with players on other platforms. One can’t help but feel the overwhelming advantage the master race will enjoy in various scenarios (larger area awareness, faster input, mechanical keyboards), but since this game is mostly PvE oriented you should still feel comfortable looting & downing bosses while riding the buss or even tending classes.
HOW MUCH WILL DIABLO IMMORTAL COST ?
Diablo Immortal is free to play on both Mobile & PC platforms – That’s right, you can enjoy your favorite Diablo game in 2022 for free. There won’t be any pay 2 win system implemented in the game either. All the loot in form of Set gear, Legendary gear & other character stats improvement options will be exclusively rewards on players that earned them through playing the game. It is not yet known how Blizzard plans to implement the monetization plan for this game, but players can rest assured there wont be any paid shortcuts for the best characters on the servers.
SIX CLASSES, CAIN & STOPRYLINE EXPLAINED
Much like the previous Diablo installments, the Diablo Immortal campaign takes place in the events between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. One of the main protagonists – Deckard Cain will reprise the role of your guiding light as you journey through Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons.
Six classes will be available on release: Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer & Wizard. As with all Blizzard games, there should be at least one or two more expansions for this game which will probably expand the rooster of classes available to play.
