Glaivier Build – Lost Ark Lancemaster Guide
Welcome to the Lost Ark Glaivier Guide, today we will cover everything you need to know about the Lancemaster class – Both Control & Pinnacle versions explained. Skills setup, combat flow, stats allocations & more below.
The Glaivier comes equppied with two stances – blue stance for wider hitbox suitable for better aoe impact and a red stance tailored for vector targeting utilizing longer & thinner hitboxes. Switching between stances buffs your overall damage output and is a function based on the amount of meter generated. Meter generation is achieved both in a passive and an active manner, hitting the max level 3 on your meter provides the following buffs depending on your stance.
THE RED/BLUE SHIFT
BLUE STANCE – GLAIVE
Also known as the Flurry stance, the first bar grants 5% movement speed, second will increase this to 10% in addition to granting extra 10% damage output increase. Achieving the max three bars grants 10% attack speed, 10% damage increase and a whooping 15% critical rate buff.
RED STANCE – SPEAR
The Focus stance much like the Flurry stance, swapping to red will grant 5% movement speed for the first bar, 10% movement and 10% bonus damage on the second bar. The third bar grants 15% movement speed, 10% damage increase and a 25% critical damage buff (instead the 15% critical rate from Flurry).
Keep an eye on both stances, there is a handy quality of life feature below the meter, a small grid which represents the skills cooldowns of both your off-stance. Showing your opposite stance’s skill cooldowns allows you to track your off-stance skill’s cooldowns allowing for strategic decisions without having to swap and enables you to plan few moves ahead.
ROTATION IS KEY
Blue stands for mobility, area of effect damage output and improved maneuverability through every situation. Tornado summons, 360 degrees damage output and everything else you need to handle large crowds of enemies. Red on the other hand is utilized best at ranged distance with some high burst damage output capability, leap attacks for both getting in and out of pesky situations & longer charge time for your abilities.
And when leaping and running away from foes is not enough to get the advantage you need, the Glaivier class have a really cool block and dodge options which when timed perfectly grants option to not only prevent damage, but also counter attacks. Similar to the Gunlancer’s counter spear, this oh sh** button will save you more times than you can image, granted you are familiar with the boss mechanics and can properly time the block frame. Red stance have a parry/counter attack option, whereas the blue stance allows for longer lasting vault animation which grants slightly longer survivability window.
ENGRAVINGS EXPLAINED
Engravings pretty much determine the build that your Glaivier will use in the mid towards end game progression. As with every other class, two dedicated engravings will determine the style for your build and in most cases will direct your builds towards different if not opposite mechanics and playstyle.
STANCE SWAPPING – PINNACLE BUILD
Pinnacle engraving relies on the buff you receive when swapping between weapons/stances and takes the bonuses to a whole new level. Scaling up your attack speed, move speed & overall damage output by increasing your crit damage or crit chance. So keep in mind of opting for Pinnacle playstyle, your build will have to revolve around filling up your three bars fast, and swapping stances as much as possible in order to maximize the amount of time you remain in the bonus state.
CHAIN SLASH – RANGED ATTACK
We are opting for 3-1-2 build on your Chain Slash skill, keep an eye on your 2nd tripod which will consume meter when used and grant a hefty bonus. Keep in mind that when in Flurry/Blue stance using your chain slash will use a little bit of your meter for the extra dmg output.
HALF MOON SLASH – TORNADO
This is your Tornado, part break medium stagger option 1-3-2 build. The tripod option will consume gauge for extra damage, keep in mind though if used right before stance swapping you may find yourself losing meter.
RAGING DRAGON SLASH – HEAVY HITTER
A high stagger, medium stagger ability running on a 3-2-2 ability setup is a descent aoe forward facing ability suitable for clearing up any pesky mobs that find themself facing you dead ahead (pun intended ?).
SHACKLING BLUE DRAGON – MELEE RANGE ABILITY
This is a 3-1-1 setup ability which slams your Glavie to the ground. Utilizing the final tripod grants a 10% critical strike resistance down which synergizes with your class.
VAULT, FLASH KICK & STAMPEDING FLASH
These three are your maneuverability options, make sure you time these correctly to counter powerful boss attacks & get out of tight corners. If feeling like you need additional escape options, spend couple of points in each. Extra points will increase ability’s range, grant extra movement speed on activation & some damage bonus when animation ends.
STARFALL POUNCE – RED JUMP ATTACK
Since you will also have access the “red” abilities in addition to the previous skills listed above, the Starfall Pounce is a great way to re-engage after getting knocked out of combat. A 1-3-2 setup is recommended for this pounce ability which will grant extra damage against bosses in addition to cooldown reduction, guaranteed crit & extra scaling crit damage as you level up the tripod.
RED DRAGON’S HORN – LONG RANGE CHANNEL
This is a really cool aim-while-using ability which takes a bit of time to charge up. Make sure you are well positioned as you will have around a second of stationary positioning which makes you an easy target for nearby enemies. Create some distance between use and slay foes from afar. A 3-3-1 setup for this build is recommended, cooldown reduction on the first tier, guaranteed crit and narrower damage area on the second and extra bomb/boss damage on the third.
IN CONCLUSION
The tripods role is to grant cooldown reduction on the last two abilities. Switch into red stance to dump both, benefit the extra damage out of the two, build up your meter and swap to blue, build up meter again and swap back. This build requires 75% specialization, 25% swiftness setup. Reason being: The buff increase from specialization will greatly benefit the fast swapping of stances on max meter, allowing for faster meter chargeup. The 25% swiftness synergizes well by granting additional cooldown reduction, better positioning and fluency during each fight. Raw attack power is another way to scale up this build, so engravings like Grudge (flat damage increase), Mass Increase (grants bonus raw attack power scaling with all your buffs), Curse Doll (more attack power) are recommended. Other options are Keen Blunt Weapon & Raid Captain which will scale off from all the extra movement speed
CONTROLL BUILD – GLAIVE ONLY
CONTROLL ENGRAVING LOCKS OUT THE USE OF SPEAR AND INSTEAD WILL FORCE YOU TO USE THE GLAIVE EXCLUSIVELY. NO RED SKILLS, PARRY OPTION OR ROTATION BONUSES.
SINGLE STANCE VIABLE ?
If however you are one of those players that prefer to keep it simple and don’t like the idea of stance swapping, you should know that the speed of your blue stance will be a lot faster as you prioritize swiftness with temperance as your main stat. Enabling for a more straightforward playstyle, your Glaivier will feel much less locked in when it comes to speed & attack/defensive skills animation.
ABILITIES FROM PREVIOUS BUILD
Although we wont be switching stances, we will utilize most of the Pinnacle abilities & tripods in the Control build with few alterations. Unlike in the previous build, this one will rely more on Stampeding Slash, so naturally more points will be dumped into this setup for a total of 3-3-2 setup. On the last tripod however we will opt for Superposition Rotation which will remove the forward moving element giving it extra slashes & damage.
IN CONCLUSION
The Blue Only build on control relies heavily on high swiftness. You are limited to only 8 abilities to spend and you can’t spend your cooldown time on your focus stance with your red spear. In order to keep your cooldowns rolling you need to maintain high cooldown reduction. Regarding synergies you will opt for Raid Captain (damage boost) although Damage Grudge & Cursed Doll will work great in this build as well. Regarding common engravings Ambush Master is a viable option or Adrenaline. Having high swiftness means you will be able to keep Adrenaline up most of the time or if using Ambush Master it’s respective damage buff bonus when attacking the target from behind.
The remaining 30 stats you will have in this build will be dumped into crit for maximizing damage output.
