Marvel Rivals Season 2 Guide Introduction
Marvel Rivals Season 2 brings with it a solid roster of hero updates, balance changes, new mechanics, and the long-awaited inclusion of Emma Frost. Competitive players and casuals alike must know the changes to rank climb and fully enjoy the revamped gameplay. This in-depth Marvel Rivals Season 2 guide is divided into all the necessary hero updates, team-up changes, and new mechanics introduced in Season 2.
General Marvel Rivals Season 2 Guide Overview
For Season 2, developers have carefully analyzed Season 1 stats to balance hero balance, reward underplayed heroes, and nerf overperformers. A number of characters had their mobility, damage, health, and utility tweaked. Most noticeably, most tanks were buffed to live and shield their teams more, and high-damage heroes were reined in a bit to enhance game balance.
Team-up mechanics (perhaps the most unique feature of the game) have been revisited as well. Some team-ups have been remade, others have been added, and some have been disabled temporarily.
Major Buffs and Nerfs by Hero
Marvel Rivals Season 2 opens the flood gates of balance changes, flipping the meta with big hero swings. Some characters were re-designed or buffed/fined, but most were simply given straight buffs or nerfs to solve performance issues last season. Below, we divide the biggest alterations, by hero role, so whether you main as a Tank, a Duelist, or a Supporter, you’ll know exactly how your favorites changed and what to expect in your games.
Duelists
Hawkeye
- Draw Speed in Ultimate: Boosted from 1.35x to 1.5x.
- Hypersonic Arrow Damage: Boosted on impact.
- Ultimate Energy Cost: Lowered for improved availability.
These are changes that make Hawkeye more consistent while his ultimate is active and enable him to deal more damage in teamfights.

Moon Knight
- Crescent Dart Speed: Increased from 120m/s to 150m/s.
- Moonblade: Currently awards bonus health on hit.
- Ultimate Duration: Increased from 3.5s to 4.5s.
Moon Knight players are now able to remain longer in ultimates and push around enemies more in mid-range.

Scarlet Witch
- Chaos Magic Damage: Now deals flat 80 damage per second rather than scaling.
- Mystic Projection Cooldown: Boosted from 8s to 10s.
- Ultimate Delay: The slow now happens after 1.5 seconds rather than instantly.
These nerfs will make Scarlet Witch’s kit less unpredictable and infuriating to play against.

Tanks
Hulk
- Movement Speed: 600 to 650.
- Indestructible Guard Cooldown: 12s to 10s.
- Incredible Leap Charge Time: 0.7s to 0.5s.
The Hulk now has additional means of closing ground and getting in the face of the enemy, which supports his tank role and makes him more threatening in a brawl.

Thor
- Health: Raised from 525 to 600.
- Movement Speed: Raised from 600 to 650.
Thor’s increased health and mobility make him more suited for mid-range combat and can reposition more easily in battles.

Captain America
- Health: Raised to complement his new anchor team-up role.
- Shield Health: Lowered from 400 to 350 to offset his greater survivability.
Captain America’s reforms move him more towards a defensive, support-oriented role and constrain his capacity to absorb so much damage by himself.

Supports
Mantis
- Reduced base HP (275 → 250).
- Allied Inspiration and Healing Flower are stackable (up to 16 seconds of effects).

Rocket Raccoon
- Reduced healing (70/s → 50/s), but now applies 55 instant healing.
- Increased projectile speed (4.5 → 7 m/s).
- Increased cooldown of Jetpack Dash (6s → 10s), and reduced distance (10m → 8m).
- Ultimate: Damage boost reduced (40% → 25%) but applies HP regen effect (+100/s, cap 150).
- Increased energy cost of Ultimate (3700 → 4000).

Cloak & Dagger
Healing zones now sync with final zone, no more individual timers.

Ranged / Hybrid DPS
Doctor Strange
- Primary Attack Damage: Lowered from 18 to 16.
- Maelstrom of Madness: Damage multiplier lowered from 1.3 to 1.2 per occurrence.
All of these changes work to reduce Doctor Strange’s burst potential, particularly when players synergize his dark magic damage.

Iron Man
- Hitbox Size: Smaller to make it more survivable.
- Overdrive Buff: Currently awards 100 extra health for 5s.
These quality-of-life adjustments should make Iron Man feel smoother and less fragile to fight with.

Penny Parker
- Primary Attack: Now critical hit-capable via headshots.
- Firing Movement Penalty: Cut from 40% to 20%.
- Base Health: Raised from 650 to 750.
Penny Parker’s revisions significantly enhance her playability, providing her with more damage output potential and more survivability.

Reworked Teamup Abilities
Emma Frost Team-Up (w/ Magneto or Psylocke)
- Puts up illusion duplicates of Magneto or Psylocke.
- Illusions duplicate powers but not ultimates.
- Allows additional shield pressure or ranged harassment based on partner.
Rocket Raccoon
- Winter Soldier removed from team-up pool.
- Now has burst heal + quicker travel when activating Repair Mode.
Scarlet Witch & Doctor Strange
- Scarlet Witch acquires a new damage-focused right-click through this team-up.
Captain America & Winter Soldier
- Winter Soldier now has two choices: bash enemies or rush to ally for cover.
These team-up changes add fresh life to tactical variety and enable innovative new combo opportunities in team builds.
Emma Frost The New Vanguard
Emma Frost is a new, dominant character with two distinct states of existence: her normal state and her legendary Diamond Form.
Normal Form:
- Primary Gadget: 70-shot laser that escalates damage from repeated firing at close-range targets.
- Reflective Defense: 500 HP, one-way, and recastable.
- Shard Shot Ability: Places a gem on the ground enemies. Its explosion within an area applies an AOE blast.
- Ultimate – Mind Control Field: Creates a zone that attracts enemies in after a charm meter is full.
Diamond Form:
- Duration: 8 seconds.
- Damage Reduction: Substantial reduction from all sources of damage.
- Melee Attacks: Three-hit sequence, kickback kick, and crushing choke slam.
Emma is best played as a frontliner disruptor who can role-change in the fray. Her level of flexibility makes one of the most thrilling season adds.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Guide: Other Important Hero Adjustments
- The Thing: Damage reduction has been changed from 30% to 25%.
- Black Widow: Post-combo animation reduced.
- Mr. Fantastic: Increased damage on punch; Small Mode performance optimized.
- Invisible Woman: Shield HP lowered from 300 to 250.
- Wolverine: Rage rebalanced—higher from taking damage, lower from ability usage.
- Iron Fist: vs tanks optimized; slightly nerfed vs squishy opponents.
- Human Torch: Flaming Meteor now rewards bonus health but longer cooldown.
- Loki: Regeneration Domain cooldown boosted.
These adjustments in general enhance game balance and fix overpowered and underpowered heroes.
